What ever happened to the National Unity Crisis in Quebec?

How many times in the past two months has Mike Ignatieff stood in front of a camera and declared that a Conservative policy initiative risked creating a "national unity crisis" in Quebec? 20 times? 50 times? Say anything about the Bloc, national unity crisis, re-arrange seats fairly by population, national unity crisis, wearing mittens in Parliament, national unity crisis, and so on and so forth. Yes, the Conservatives have really been energizing the separatists. Conservative policy has created such anger and outrage in the separatist community that a whole 45% of them showed up to vote in two byelections. Not only that, but the crisis inflaming Tories ripped a seat for the Bloc Quebecois. Quebecers were so outraged by all the crisis, that voters rewarded Conservatives with a new seat? Kind of makes you wonder what Iggy was talking about when he proclaimed all those many times that the Tories were literally, possibly deliberately, ripping the country to pieces. Or was that all Ian Davey's idea?

To the good people of Montmagny—L'Islet—Kamouraska—Rivière-du-Loup, I welcome you to the Conservative family! Of course the Iceman was on top of this on Sept 26, weeks before the byelections, when I wrote about "the little liberal who screamed NATIONAL UNITY CRISIS!"
