Elaborate and Damaging Hoax???

The Globe and Mail reported that today's "climate hoax" against the Canadian delegation at Copenhagen was elaborate and damaging. I looked at the fake Twitter Page and I read the phony press release. What is so clever about it? It doesn't smell like the Yes Men, because they tend to introduce a theory that is patently ridiculous and try to convince people it is legit. They would have said that Jim Prentice said we could solve the problem by putting giant vacuums in the atmosphere.

The stunt that was perpetrated could have been planned and written in 30 minutes. I bet two Climate Clowns got drunk the night before and dreamed up what seemed really funny at the time, and woke up in the morning hung over and hastily threw together a prank. It was not funny, there were no jokes and nothing clever. The press release itself was poorly written and intensely boring. I would bet that most people reading that kind of drivel wouldn't even make it to the end. The Yes Men would have at least tried to make a joke.

The intended purpose of this stunt was not humour, but to attempt to release absurdly high ambitions forcing the government to issue a public statement that they would not reach those targets. I know that impersonating a police officer is a criminal offense, is impersonating an elected politician a criminal offense? If I want to start a Twitter page saying that I am Stephen Harper and I attempt to write public statements claiming to be Stephen Harper, that has to be illegal right? Are people allowed to pretend to be elected officials?

This is a recently developed strategy by the left wing, to attempt to impersonate conservatives and then to parody. You could say Colbert inspired the next generation of Liberal comedians. But guess what, Conservatives can do that to.

The CBC is loving this story a little too much. They are playing it up as a major controversy in an attempt to embarrass Jim Prentice. I don't see what is embarrassing. Two idiots attempted a lame practical joke that was caught right away, that nobody other than green activists bought, and it made no progress. How has this been a successful smear against the Environment Minister or the Canadian Government?

Seriously. I can't wait to see how the Liblogs are handling this. I will have to focus on that later this afternoon, allow all Pavlov's Dogs the time to get their opinions out there.

Some of these Liberal bloggers are certifiably crazy...

  1. It's interesting hey that the LSM in Canada pounced on this fake announcement and use words like embarrassing and in particular "damaging" but REAL and CONFIRMED leaked data from CRU doesn't garner a whisper.....for weeks!

If that doesn't sum up the agenda of these lousy journalists, I don't know what does.

These lefties have not a clue, what is at stake for the Canadian economy...not a clue should this farce ever be ratified.
An economic armageddon would be an understatement.

  2. CBC is just a garbage disposal; you want to talk about crap-just dump it on CBC.
CBC is not for canadians CBC is the liberal headquarters where general mansbridge and his pointless reporters reside. The NDP is poking around the building- they smell our money.

  3. And Evan Sodomon was all over it this afternoon, complete with an "embarassing" comment from the PMO caught on tape. Ah the CBC, where would we be without you? I'm not sure, but I'd sure like to find out.....

  4. Curiously the cowards pick a 2% player rather than one of the big boys, eh.

    What's up with that?
Maybe PMSH is a very powerful man in these international meetings....gee, who knew

  5. Someone perpetrated what is arguably a crime against their government, and this is damaging to Prentice? So if I were mugged walking to my car, I should be humiliated? And yes, drawing up a fake Twitter page in 15 minutes consitutes an "elaborate" hoax.

  6. So the yes men are claiming credit. Perfect, those dipshits took their joke too far and should face charges in a court of law. We have Americans impersonating Canadian Government Officials? Why aren't the Liberals angry?

  7. The Yes Men are taking credit, to raise their profile from Unknown to Idiots.

    Brilliant stunt.

  8. I am working on a new post about the Yes Men and why they should be charged in a court of law for impersonating federal officials at an international conference.
