Which Tory MP Belongs in Cabinet?

Despite the fact that Rona Ambrose is going to take both the public works portfolio and status of women, I thought this would be a good time to ask which Tory MP is the most deserving of a seat in Cabinet. The nominees include Maxime Bernier, Pierre Poilievre, Shelly Glover, Cheryl Gallant, Mike Lake, and my own MP John Weston who did a magnificent job with the Olympics. Clearly the demands of each specific Cabinet job will fit better with some MPs than others, but my question is more general based on the complete skill set of each individual.

And when I suggested in the nomination process that Maxime Bernier should be the Minister for the Status of Women, that was a JOKE! Even if it was in bad taste, some people are unable to detect satire in the written narrative...sheesh…

  1. Please don't give people the idea that Pierre might be ready for a position of responsibility. Having met him several times and voted for him to show my support for this current Conservative party and its policies I am terrified that he might one day slip into a position of power and I'll have the guilt for having put him there. He is not a good politician, or even a good person. He is just a whiner who takes credits for others work.

  2. Technically Diane Ablonczy is a Cabinet Minister (for seniors), even if it is a junior portfolio. I think she is a fantastic and I would support her promotion to a position of greater responsibility.

  6. The gals sitting in the critic's chairs across the isle will give the new Minister a rough ride. Hands down, Dianne has the experience.

  7. Wilson, I am inclined to agree with you that Dianne should have taken over Helena's portfolio instead of Rona. Public works is a full time job.

  8. Not Pierre Poilievre. He is overly partisan, aggressive, and gaffe-prone. Also, Maxime Barnier the torch with the Julie Couillard affair, so I do not think it would be appropriate for him to be back.

Three outstanding MP's for me are:
    - Diane Ablonczy -- please, PM Harper, make use of her talent.
    - Mike Lake -- although there are a lot of ministers from Alberta already
    - Michael Chong

  9. If Libs were in power, they would have 70% Ontario Ministers,
so regardless of region, get some experience up front!

  10. As somebody who hopes for ALL parties and governments to fail, and fail spectacularly, I cast my vote for either Pierre or Cheryl: because nobody, NOBODY could ever disturb the shit more effectively than either of them. Harper would have to be politically suicidal to do it, but then again, a political agitant can hope. . . .
