Helena is a little upset

Evidently Helena Guergis is not happy to have been removed as the Conservative candidate for Simcoe, especially after she recently received the full support of her riding association. I'm not sure what future she felt she still has in politics, or why on earth she'd even want to stay in political life after the treatment she has received over her husband's indiscretions. I suppose if she is upset, then that signals that she had some interest in running again, otherwise she'd have likely announced her retirement by now.

I can't say that I blame her for being agitated. I believe this decision by the Prime Minister has more to do with her husband lobbying from her office and e-mail account than about her own competency as a Conservative Member of Parliament. But either way, it has to be the lowest risk play. I wonder if she will be wooed by the Liberal Party? Wouldn't that be an interesting circumstance...

  1. I think in time Helena and her husband will realize that the lessons learned will make them stronger
I am sure everything looks black right now but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger
I tell my son that from time to time
my son always seems to land on his feet running but it is a tough climb for young people
Helena is good people just young
I wish her and her husband all the best

  2. Derrick Lee....a Liberal MP from Scarborough Rouge River had his name brought up in QP today by the govt. After someone questioned his second job yesterday, he now has himself listed as a lobbiest on his website. CBC Solomon will have the details on his show, Power and Politics...AFTER he contacts Lee for the details. No "BREAKING NEWS" on CBC about it yet. Not holding my breathe on that one.

  3. If all the allegations have some legs in the truth department, it shows that at the very least she is guilty of extreme lack of judgment, and on that basis, doubt reigns. Yes she has a lot of baggage which does play well when trying to work as a politician. So the decision was made for her.

  4. The Simcoe Grey Conservative riding association president happens to be Helena's sister.

It is best for the party that party over ruled the decision of the riding association. As a Simcoe-Grey Conservative I am happy with the decision of the party.

Conservatives took %55 in 2008 in Simcoe-Grey, I am sure the next Conservative that runs can do that well and perhaps take more of the vote.

  5. I'm really torn on this one but I expect the decision HAD to be made because she has temporarily been removed from caucus and is not sitting as a Conservative should there be an election.
If she let her hubby use her office, this needs to happen however.

Now the same people that have been calling for the FALL of this couple and have hounded them with unsubstantiated allegations will ride to the rescue with a 'poor them' mantra.
They destroyed them and without guilt but as sure as I'm standing here, those same swarmy If she let her hubby use her office, this needs to happen however.ones will start the pity party on her behalf.

  7. Everybody loves a comeback. She has to play it right. I don't think the Hillary Clinton route will work in her case.

  8. LOL
guess who got the boot from Gitmo hearings:
    Canadian Press
''TORONTO - Three Canadian journalists are being barred from Guantanamo Bay, where they have been covering pre-trial war-crimes hearings for Omar Khadr, the Pentagon said Thursday.

The reporters for the Toronto Star, Globe and Mail, and Canwest News Service breached a ban on identifying a witness, according to the Pentagon.''

  9. I think both Helena and Jaffer have been treated abominably by just about everyone. I do not agree with the Conservative's decision on this. If she has the support of her riding association, she should be allowed to run again.

  10. It helps when running as a Conservative to be in the party. Currently she is out of caucus.

  11. Has she been present in the House since her ouster from the party? Just curious.
