23% Of The Canadians Are Getting Iggy With It

In the first round of polling numbers since the G20 Summit in Toronto, the Liberals have fallen and the Conservatives are climbing. What is even more inspiring for the Tory brand is a large lead in Ontario and growing support in the Greater Toronto Area. At this rate Ignatieff may want to consider ending his vacation early and jumping right into his Summer Under the Bus Tour (which is scheduled to start next week). The Liberals have fallen under the "Dion Line" of 25%, which was generally considered to be the worst possible performance for the Liberal Party. How could it get any worse than Dion? That was until thousands of miscreants took to the streets of Toronto to burn police cars. Rather than build support for their various causes, all the protesters have accomplished is shifting the goal posts to the right in our largest city that the Liberals depend on to produce most of their caucus. Can Iggy do worse than Dion? Yes he can!

I think Iggy needs a theme song to blast through the loud speakers as he tours the country. Personally my favourite is "Don't Forget Me When I'm Gone by Glass Tiger", but other strong candidates are "Oops I did it again", "Rasputin", "Living In A Prayer", or maybe "I'm too sexy" by Right Said Fred? The Canadians always enjoy a self-deprecating sense of humour, which he likely doesn't understand as someone who has hardly lived here.

  1. Gone Going Gone by Black-Eyed Peas seems relevant.

It is better for him to be in China vs. at the Stampede, where he does not even get the western hospitality thing about free pancake breakfasts.

  2. In keeping with my movie title suggestion, I think "Take Off" is appropriate.

  3. I'm thinking McGuinty Liberals falling out of grace with Ontario voters due to the newly applied HST may rub off on the Federal Liberals, accounting for some loss of Liberal support in Ontario. Unintended consequences, so to speak. Not to mention an awakening to the faux scandal meme. LOL
