Best Liberal Express Outtakes

This evening's poll question, what has been the biggest gaffe or worst image to emerge thus far from Ignatieff's summer tour? He started with the sulphur joke, and then a few days later the bus broke down. He claimed talking to children and riding a bike is living dangerously. We have the dancing Queen routine on the sidewalk, the Chretien presser, the Traverse "declining years" comment, or perhaps the $55 a plate breakfast at the Calgary Stampede. I will post the poll in about an hour, I just want to leave this open for a bit to make sure I'm not forgetting anything.  When all is said and done the Tories will have accumulated some excellent clips and sound bites for future campaign commercials.

  2. I thought the close ups and smiling was the worst until the dancing on Queen made me wince.

It is not fair his advisers must be trying to throw him under the bus.

I found an old video from Can't Buy Me Love with the lead doing the African Anteater dance.

He might be good at ballroom waltzing or possibly the bird dance but this, this is self-inflicted bad judgment.

  3. His worst gaffe was taking the tour in the first place. I feel sorry for the guy. He needs to be himself. Conservatives would be in trouble if he was taken seriously since I think he may represent a position very close to the Conservative middle of the road position. He reminds me of poor Robert Stanfield who was the best Prime Minister we never had.

I continue to think that the uncorrupt and honest Blue Liberals ought to defect and join the Conservatives. Iggy among them.

Iggy reminds me of the guy that married the first woman that he ever went to bed with.

He carry's on that position by listening and believing the last person to speak to him.

  4. The obvious showing of desperation on the day with Chretien, when every photo had the pretty boy Justin in the background.

  5. I think Iffy has taken 'my momma always said' and 'my wife is my rock (boss)' too far.
Ms Z tells Iffy to 'snap out of it, you know you want fries'.
Can't make a decision on lunch?
And he wants to control the security and economic well being of 35 million people...snap out of it Iffy.

  6. As a Canadian living in Alberta, Mr. Ignatieff's visit to the Calgary Stampede will be remembered for a long time. The sulphur comment lingers the most, but do others recall this one?

“I look out there and what I see is ‘big hat, no cattle,’ that's what I see. Not only no cattle, but quite a lot of sheep,”(1)

Although the Globe and Mail suggests this was intended to reference Stephen Harper's Tories, his frankly grave insult to the citizens of Canada living here seemed to permit a wave of anti-western sentiments unleashed in the comment sections linked the articles covering this event.

This from a man who says he is committed to the national unity of the country.(2)

The level to which Mr. Ignatieff's doublespeak has risen can not be casually deflected by the "all politicians lie" defense. He should have his own catagory of language. I have suggested to the Iceman: ignocentric iggnoble iggregious and igginorant.

  8. You've forgotten the "I got my start from the Canadian public education system" thingie, and there is also the asbestos comment in Quebec which apparently kyboshed a deal with China.

  9. Whatever your take is on Iggy there is one indisputable fact about him: he is not a manager. He has spent so much time doing things on his own that he cannot be and never will be able to manager. From management skills comes leadership abilities.

All leaders have been able to manage - getting things done through other people.

Iggy will never be a manager.

  10. Having Zsa-Zsa tuck his shirt into his underwear was priceless.
Too bad Johnny Crouton didn't take that opportunity to give him a Shawinigan wedgie.
