Dalton Taking Heat From The Left Hand Side

Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty has become very accustomed to taking harsh criticism from Conservatives, but he isn't used to taking fire from his left hand side. Suddenly, the left wing anger at the G20 police enforcement is being aimed in Dalton's direction. Information about a law that didn't exist was released before the Summit, and nobody took the time to correct it despite most of them knowing it was false. It is not the responsibility of the police department to make public service announcements on television on every legal matter, and thus the ultimate responsibility for any perceived wrong doing rests on the teflon shoulders of the Ontario Premier.

Now the Canadian Civil Liberties Association is looking at suing the government, and guess which government is responsible? They can't sue the federal Tories for choosing Toronto, but they can sue the Provincial Liberal government responsible for the creation, application, and publication of laws. Wouldn't it be amusing if the CCLA actually sued Dalton Mcguinty over his handling of the G20 conference? We know that 70% of Canadians found the protests to be "disgusting", so if these people think these tactics accomplish anything, guess again. It wasn't until the Facebook Prorogation Protests that public anger started to diminish at prorogation. Protests, at least the most extreme, do not accomplish any goal other than turning public opinion against you. Remember that the next time you and some friends want to block traffic and burn police cars.

  1. Actually, I have to take exception here.

You say "Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty has become very accustomed to taking harsh criticism from Conservatives..."

Errr. Well. No. I'm somewhat politically active. I read the papers online regularly. I am a member of the provincial PC Party (not very active I must admit, but I do get their communications).

Other than empty boilerplate rhetoric, there has been little or no effective criticism of Mr. McGuinty. Mr. Hudak is MIA.

More importantly, I have not seen a single policy discussion (again, not empty rhetoric) from our PCO.

McGuinty has been getting a free ride ever since John Tory immolated himself in the last election. It's a very sad situation for Ontario conservatives.

For god's sake! Ontarians are definitely ready for a rational conservative alternative. EVeryone hates McGuinty. But there is no credible opposition!

  2. If anyone should be sued it is the organizers of the protests, starting with the union leaders. They should be sued by those suffering damage.
If the police etc are sued it will just mean more damage and violence next time they decide to be idiots. Union members that are aghast at what their dues are paying for should also take action against their leaders. Get out to the union meetings and get rid of the thugs. Don't vote ndp/lib as they support those thugs pretending to be hard working members of society.

  3. Those complaning that democracy was lost blah, blah, how democratic is it for unions to have mandatory membership or having to pay dues whether one is a member or not. That sounds like dictatorship by the unions.
Wonder how many members, or how much they would collect in dues, if that law was changed.
And how about a forensic audit of all unions to see where the money is going.
