Elizabeth May: The British Columbian

I was sure that Elizabeth May was from London Ontario, at least until she was a Nova Scotian. Then after she was rejected for parliamentary representation by Londonians then Nova Scotians, she blew town and has found a new home. On Friday I heard her on Vancouver talk radio talking all about being a British Columbian, and a tax payer against the HST. I don't know if she has lived here long enough to pay provincial income tax, but the leader of the Green Party is now against consumption taxes. I know a little bit about global green initiatives, and I thought one of their goals was to reduce consumption? Marx believed consumption was the root of all evil that corrupted people with want for material possessions. Isn't a consumption tax a great way to reduce consumption? Make it more expensive to buy things, and people will buy less. Lizzy isn't being very green.

What is this now her fourth attempt at winning a different riding? She has never run in the same place twice. Now she is riding her adult tricycle up and down Vancouver Island calling herself a "British Columbian". Remind me again Liz why you aren't a Nova Scotian? An Ontarian? It has been less than a year since she decided to run in Saanich, when she abandoned the people who volunteered all those hours for her in Central Nova, and now she is just trying to ride a populist wave against the HST for her own personal gain. The leader of the Green Party cannot be against consumption taxes because one of their goals is to reduce human consumption!

I can't be the only one who sees through the bullshit on this one.

  1. And despite widespread displeasure within the Greens for her high handed solo tactics for electing Ms. IMeMy she continues to try to convince the Green members to suspend a party constitution mandate to hold a leadership race. Isn't that just so convenient...for Ms. IMeMy.

  2. To be fair she is big time into democratic reform. She wants to change the constitution to make it easier for her to get elected. Holding leadership reviews however is undemocratic, I think. What is her official position on why she won't do a leadership review, or has any of the many pundits to interview her asked that question?

  3. May was born and raised in Hartford, Connecticut, and moved to Canada at age 16.Connecticut's gain is Canada's loss. If only she'd spent her time in political ativism in the U.S., she'd probably (shudder) be part of Obama's Cabinet.

We British Columbians are a welcoming type, and we've welcomed some of the world's worst characters to this Province,ie,members of just about every terrorist group on Earth, so "Welcome to B.C., Ms.May"!

Now settle down and buy a gift shop on Salt Spring, and get the hell out of politics where your lack of logic embarrasses even the Green movement.

Good luck with your new business.

  4. She is another so-called leader handpicked by criminal billionaire Maurice Strong. No need for leadership reviews when the plan is to take down civilization, implement world government and make a fortune on carbon derivative smokies.

  5. Lizzy says all sorts of things but they are for political gain and not necessarily the truth.

  7. Indeed, Elizabeth May does say a lot of things.

She says that Canadian democracy is in trouble because Stephen Harper allegedly doesn't follow the rules.

Then she works to shelve a mandatory leadership review at her party's convention.

One only wonders what she'll say next.
