Ignatieff: Life On The Edge

The Liberal Party wants you to know that their leader is a man without fear, a political daredevil who takes extreme risks like riding a bicycle, answering questions, or giving children high fives. That's life on the edge. As a new press release "Living Dangerously" on their website explains today; "a cautious politician does not ride a bicycle, when there is a risk of falling off...a cautious politician does not give high-fives to kids...a cautious politician does not take unscripted questions." He is the political equivalent of Evel Knievel, and I wish him good luck riding that bicycle. If he is afraid of falling down, he can always opt for training wheels or the Lizzy May adult tricycle. He doesn't have to risk his life to connect with Canadians.

Sadly he won't be attending the Liberal Big Red Bike Ride in British Columbia, instead hosting lunch in Stratford. I suppose BC doesn't matter...

  1. Good grief, what a pathetic "news" release !

Is this the same guy who was so proud of having lived among the Kurds in northern Iraq, during the time of Sadaam Hussein ? And that experience played a large part in his decision to back Bush's war.

And now he's reduced to bragging that he's taking the risk of hi-fiving little kids ?!? LOL.

Stick a fork in this guy, he's done.

  2. It is pretty bad when your own party is making fun of you and putting that press release out. Look at that big boy riding his bike, and he can match wits with any six year old child in Canada. If I only had the courage.

  3. Actually these days admitting that you read War and Peace is pretty risky behavior since no one seems to read any more.

  4. The really sad part? This still looks like political stunting; it doesn't tell Canadians at all who the real Michael Ignatieff is.

  5. OMG - priceless pics! This is great future election fodder! Is Donello a trojan horse who is making Iggy look like a complete idiot on purpose and Igffy does not GET IT??? I think so. Donello has way more political smarts than Iggy does, so if it is not sabotage, what is he thinking? Of course, Iggy was not here for Stockwell's skin suit show and how that can backfire. He would have read about it, but can't help himself.

It looks like Iggy bought the line that he can't go to France and should learn how to have a "normal" Canadian summer, and he loves it as he is trying to regain all the things he missed in 34 years! This is a repeat nostagia tour as per his book, except this time, he is annointed as Liberal leader who loves the ego boost? It is totally STILL ALL ABOUT IGGY searching for his identity, youth and where he belongs!

That Liberal pitch is so out-out-touch with reality that I seriously wonder who really pays Donollo. Although you think that there will be no election this year, and I agree that the CPC will probably not bring it on, I think the Liberals do not care any more - they will do ANYTHING to fix their mistake.

I would like a photo op of the PM welcoming the G20 vs. Iggy on a bike.

I am sure that the CPC war room is salivating on every day of this tour of massive (cough) local 200 person crowds. Oh yeah, this will work ...

Who is more likely to be our Prime Minister? Do we want an uncomfortable annointed and now, neuvo fake Timmies, aged skinny-man intellectual turned weekend "daredevil" person OR an elected leader and international statesman with a concrete track record? For 13 years, I was embarrased to have Cretien as my PM, so Mr. Flip-flop, off-the cuff will not do!!!

Oh yeah, Canadians will figure this out easily...
