The Poll So Nice, Taber Wrote About It Twice

Yesterday when Liberal donor and pollster Frank Graves released his latest poll showing the Conservatives at historic lows, Jane Taber who sets the agenda at the Globe and Mail was so excited that she wrote two separate editorials in the same day analyzing the same poll. Headline #1 read "Revenge of propeller-heads leaves Tories even with Liberals" and headline #2 on the same politics page read "Snap election would leave Harper with razor-thin minority, pollster says". When a poll by a partisan pollster during the summer vacation period yields results you are looking for, may as well beat it like a dead horse. Jane has really turned it into overdrive since she returned from holidays.

I am not concerned about summer polling. It is a different audience for voluntary polls in the summer months. If this result is reflected in different polls by different polling companies for a few weeks, then perhaps there will be cause for concern. Besides, the good thing about hitting a low is that when you climb back up, you can boast gains and momentum. Had the Liberals not fell to 23% a few weeks ago, polling at 28% would seem much less impressive. The only problem is that when your good news pollster is a donor who wants you to win, be warned that it may not reflect the will of the people. Every session of Parliament that Ignatieff has led the Liberals through as leader, the party has polled lower at the end of the session that at the start. Iggy doesn’t do well in the national spotlight.

  1. Are there any polls-ratings on the media? Just asking.

It would be nice to show the public how much attention they get from the public.

Besides, the stale stories which the media gives you will be repeated in future so you are not missing anything for now.

I also notice that the same dreary reporter who perfer to do their reporting all at once then to slam it into the cabinet for future use which is regularly. Only the date and a name here or there is changed just to show the public how deligently they are at work.

In fact Iceman, you and other bloggers do are better job covering the news and up to date issues than the media ever will.

Kady O'MALLEY has tons of news to tell you just by sitting on a chair and tweeting-man, that must be hard work. And from her tweeter chair she sends her 'make-up' story to all reporters and presto breaking news is at hand. what do you think.

  2. I have never been a fan of "Giggles" nor the party she so feverously continues to wet her panties for. I am however concerned, as always, that the biased "news" she and her fellow lefties rant on about do seem to have an impact on the average man on the street who uses those words to shape their world and no other source. My father is a staunch CBC/CTV watcher for his news and does note have or want a computer. When I visit for a cup of tea and a chat and the news is on TV sometimes I comment or add commentary to what is the current CPC slapdown of the day. No matter how rational I am in political conversation with him it's always "well that's not what they said on the news". :)

  3. The noise for an election, polls tightening is a wonderful script from the Liberal media.

The tabloid media is paid to report about their agenda.

The facts don't back up the rhetoric and credibility is destroyed for impartiality.

  4. Exactly! Unfortunately for people like your dad who watch the media are being manipulated.

Anyone who watches the media expect to hear the full news. Instead, not all news are being reported but only that which the media wants or shall I say dictate which news you are going to hear.
Does your father know that the liberals not all, attended a vigil for a Tamil-ltte-tigers terrorist leader? No he doesn't because I read about this story in the NP. CBC CTV refuse to alert canadians on this.

That is why we need another media; to reveal to canadians what is refuse by the national media.

No wonder the national media ARE AFRAID of another media interfering with their little scheme; afraid of being exposed for what they really are.
