Questions For Ignatieff

Now that parliament is back to work, the leader of the Liberal Party will soon depart for another "listening tour" where he will take questions from Canadians. If I could ask Iggy one question, it would be "if the Tories win another minority in the next election, will you consider negotiating with the other parties to form government?" Somehow though, I strongly suspect that you would not get an honest answer on this matter. It is much easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission, and the Liberals do not want to fight an election campaign on negotiating with the Bloc on a power grabbing deal. They have not faced the electorate since the deal negotiated by Dion, and guaranteed this issue will be a major topic of conversation during the next election campaign.

That's what I'd like to ask if I had the opportunity. What would you like ask?

  1. The Liberals have backed off eliminating the coalition option if necessary.

Ignatieff described the coalition as a three legged stool on his book tour in Montreal in 2009.

His new advisers and political reality have made a secret deal necessary with unable to reach and hold a 30% level of support.

In 2000 Ontario voted 50% for the Liberals, in 2008 they were behind the Conservatives by 5%.

Ignatieff's decision to invoke the cultural war from the 1990's won't work without money.

They are fighting the REFORM and scary Christians hoping it will bring Ontario voters back to the Big Red Tent.

  2. Chretien's 'winning' playbook has been dusted off, and recycled for use.

I fully expect that once again, Iffy will attack Alberta as the enviro-boogeyman.
Quebec, McGuinty and big city special interest goup elites like that play.

McGuinty's govt went so far as to snub 3 Alberta Ministers, on their recent visit to Ontario to inform their counter parts on the oilsands.

    I predict
Iffy will go all in for a
    'moritorium' on oilsands development
    pending 'environmental review'
and will have the 100% backing of the coalition socialists and separatists.

Infact, the coalition of losers may use a PMB to do just that.

  3. A LibDip coalition is a given.
To deny the possibility exists is to lie.

But Iffy MUST answer if his coalition of losers will include the Bloq.

    (crosspost at BLY)
There are 92 seats in Western Canada.
the coalition of losers hold 21 of those 92 seats,
    Dippers 14, Libs 7, Bloq 0 = 23%

Yet those 21 MPs from Western Canada sitting in Parliament can form a coalition with the Bloq and dictate enviro/energy policy that can devastate all of Western Canada’s resource industry.

  4. A good question and one the media should be asking him but won't of course. (real conservative)

  5. I wouldn't even bother crafting a question for Iggy on a substantial matter. Donolo has created a dozen or so boilerplate "answers", which cover just about anything thrown at Iggy. Iggy will just pick one "answer" from his memorized list, which comes closest to dealing with the question. That's all we're gonna get from the guy.

It's pretty boring for us junkies and the media. So I suspect, after a while, the media will go to other Libs for more susbstantial answers. And of course there are folks like Duceppe and Marois and Parizeau, ready and eager to stir the "coaltion" pot, with uncomfortable comments.

For example, last time, Parizeau said he
was pleased to see as much "chaos" (his word) as possible, so that ROC will see that Canada is ungovernable with Quebec in it. Stuff like that will of course play very well for us.

  6. There are many reasons I want a conservative majority but one of them is.
The complete meltdown on tv of iggy, layton, all media honchos, when it becomes apparent on election night that the coalition is doomed for at least 4 or 5 years.
My question for iggy, do you still think our Flag is a beer lable.
