Don Martin To Host CTV Power Play

Today's poll question; do you think that Don Martin is a good choice to host CTV's flagship politics show Power Play? He did a term as a guest host, which seemed mostly awkward. At the same time, if it had to be Don Martin or the other sub Jane Taber, I would unquestionably prefer Martin. I'm pretty sure Taber wanted that job. She just seemed to be having so much fun while hosting to flagship politics show. My opinion on Don Martin was best described approximately a year ago on this blog.

  1. I reluctantly agree about Don Martin as the choice.

    I absolutely wholeheartedly agree that Taber would be intolerable.

  2. Absolutely not...I cannot stand his smirk and he is decidley liberal in his viewpoint.

  3. Personally I think he has a face for radio.

    Reminds of those skittles commercials, his head resembles a lemon.

    They should keep using rotating hosts until I find one I like!

    They could hire Kory he would be great!

  4. Anyone but Taber ... she is a consistent delete, as she drools progressive;

  5. Don Martin hosting "Power Play" is an example of how low the standard's for "Liberal" mouthpieces in the media have sunk. Caught the comedy hour on CTV the other day, otherwise known as "Question Period", Taber was dressed like a hooker from a Star Trek episode.

  6. Don Martin is undoubtedly the best choice for the show. I find him refreshing, and I appreciate the honesty he brings to politics. Congrats Don, and I look forward to watching!

    1. Good for you! Don't know how or why people are so critical of Martin. I think he is fine. Now, with my name choice, people will think Martin wrote this himnself!

  8. Don Martin isn't a bad writer, despite his Tory/Harper bashing at times. But he lacks on-air expertise. In fact, he's downright awkward and without much polish. I can't wait to see who Sun News TV will put up against him in the 5:00 PM politics time slot.

    1. Don doesn't have to worry about who Sun TV will put up against him! If you like Lilley, Coren and Levant there is no hope for you!

  9. I agree with CanadianSense, Don Martin has a face for radio. He's very awkward on camera and will have a hard time filling Tom Clark's shoes. I think CTV should do all they can to get Tom Clark back, but it's probably too late.

  11. Well, it's March 17th. Where is Don Martin? I don't really miss him but how are we to get used to him if he never shows up? Did he quit? Did he get fired?

  12. I think Don Martin is most refreshing. He has quite a sense of humour, which is very necessary in his job. When he was away for a week I was desperately hoping he had not left for good. I'm glad he is back and I am looking forward to his show this week.

  13. Please...I was hoping that Don Martin was given the axe but to my chagrin he and his smirk came back. If I wanted to watch a comedy fest I'd tune into SNL. I'm sure that somewhere CTV could scour any Secondary School media class and find a better replacement to host Power Play. Better hurry up before Sun TV comes arrives because I'm sure that they will be able to deliver the political commentary without side splitting laughter.
