No Coalition, We Get It...

After hinting that he's considering voting no confidence in the government right after the election, Ignatieff keeps saying no no no to a coalition. That's fine, because whatever left wing monster emerges from another Tory minority, the Liberals will not call it a coalition. Maybe Jack Layton won't be the next Minister of Finance, but if the Liberals form government after the Conservatives win the election, they will have to shift left to win NDP support on every piece of legislation. Call it a coalition, or call it a coalition by proxy, but the Libs still need the NDP. They need to keep them happy to maintain government.

If the Tories pass legislation with the help of the NDP, the "zone of agreement" is at least somewhere near the center. When the Liberals rely on the NDP, the result is much further down the left hand side of the spectrum. Remember the last year of Paul Martin? Whether it is a formal agreement or a backroom handshake, they must placate the socialists.

  3. I think we now have confirmation of the NDP surge with Iggy blowing the load on an easter sunday festival of fail. I think the book about the inside of the Liberal campaign will be interesting. I won't read it but I look forward to some juicy highlights.

  4. I believe the Liberal plan is to take the Government down at the first opportunity with their comrades in the NDP and Bloc, and thats why the Liberals released such a lefty platform. The Liberal platform is a ready made lefty document that the Separatists and the NDP would have no problem supporting. Well this is off topic, but I see the abortion boogey man has been rolled out in a co-ordinated fear campaign by the Liberals and their media whores. Desperation, and fear of being wiped out at the polls has made the Liberals/Media resort to the old tried and true political smash and grab of the abortion boogey man. Liberals and their media are truly ugly, polarizing, desperate, corrupt, power mad jackals who will do and say anything for power.

  5. At the rate things are going the Libs are going to finish behind the NDP. If that happens Iggy will be chased out of the country with torches and pitchforks. That should ensure 1-2 years of peace while the Libs attend therapy sessions.
